Interior Design Faculty Assume New Responsibilities
Dr. Cherif Amor has been assigned the position of Interim Chair of the Department of Design. Dr. Zane curry serves as the Associate Chair of the Department of Design and Director of the Interior Design Program. Dr. JoAnn Shroyer currently serves as the Interim Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Design. The department has added three instructors, has reconfigured studio space and has aligned the curriculum into a single-track program. These changes will enable the TTU Interior Design Program to function effectively well into the future.
Interior Design Curriculum Moves To A Single Track
Over the course of the next four years the Interior Design program will be moving to a single- track curriculum. What this means is that freshmen will be admitted to the program fall semester only. Previously, freshmen were admitted both fall and spring semesters. This new single-track course schedule will allow for greater efficiency in course offerings and easier tracking of student’s progress through the program.
Most courses will be offered either fall or spring semester. This will allow students to know exactly when they should register for a course. All studio curricula are highly sequential in nature. This change will assure that all students in a course are equally prepared.
Interns Experience
Real World of Design
Texas Tech’s class of interior designers fulfilled summer internships across the nation. Students interned in New York, Florida, Texas, Missouri, Arizona and New Mexico. The firms they worked for were some of the nation’s largest and most prestigious. From the world’s largest hospitality firms to the most exclusive custom residential firms, the students experienced the gamut of the profession.
